iPhone/iPod Touch 3.0 Firmware

Leaked by developers! You can get the iPod touch (1st and 2nd gen) and iPhone 3.0 firmware free here.

Leak Notes :
Apple released the firmware to developers for $99.
A developer released the firmware to the public.
After you upgrade to the firmware, a Terms of Service says some bull shit about if you are not a developer your iPod will be permanently blocked when the firmware is officially released.
So use at your own risk and don't blame me if this really isn't BS. (I doubt it.)

Notes :
-'Golden Master' is the finalized version.
-Only the beta firmwares are currently able to be jailbroken.
-Apple will release the upgrade on June 17th.
-On June 17th the iPhone upgrade is free, but the iPod Touch 3.0 firmware will cost $9.95

Tutorial : (UPGRADE OPTION #1)

-1st thing you want to do is download the firmware of your device.
-Save it to your desktop.
-=SYNC YOUR DEVICE! MAKE SURE IT IS BACKED UP!=
-If you don't backup your device, you will lose your apps and songs.
-Make sure your iTunes is 8.2. <~Must be 8.2!
-Open up iTunes with your device plugged in.
-Go to the summary tab of your device and HOLD SHIFT AND LEFT CLICK RESTORE.
-This will allow you to restore your device to factory settings of a selected firmware.
-Select the 3.0 firmware you saved to your desktop.
-Wait for your computer to completely finish installing
-When your device says 'slide to unlock' you know it is finished.
-All of your songs/apps won't show.
-In the summary tab of your device, click restore to the backup of "Colton's iPod" (or whatever your device is called)
-All of your backed up apps and songs will be installed automatically.
-Congrats you are on 3.0 firmware! ^^

Tutorial : (UPGRADE OPTION #2)

-Wait until June 17th.
-Pay 10$ for the upgrade in the iTunes store. (If you are on an iPhone, the upgrade is free.)
-Congrats you are on 3.0 firmware! ^^

Yeah, I have one. I don't really see the need to upgrade to 3.0 before the release and risk messing up my ipod, because i dont see the need to upgrade period. I didn't ay for that ridiculous 20$ upgrade in the middle of 1.0 that gave you like 5 new apps that did nothing you couldn't do on the internet anyway. I got them when i went to 2.0.

Lol ^ ^; i was excited. So, I posted what was on my mind. There is no risk factors when you have the ability to force restore then restore it to a backup though. =] Thought I'd post something so you could save 10 bucks.

What does 3.0 even do?
